BA History

The University of Aberdeen offers a comprehensive undergraduate degree in History that is designed to cater to students with a passion for examining and interpreting the past. The curriculum covers a multitude of periods from the ancient, medieval, Scottish, British, European, to the modern, providing an in-depth understanding of local and global history. Course Content: The program combines traditional teaching methods with modern technologies to offer a varied and rigorous curriculum. Students will develop key skills through these studies such as critical thinking, creativity, research, and interpretation, making the graduates well-rounded and suitable for a plethora of career paths. The program is spread across four years, with the last two years allowing for specialisation in specific areas of interest.Key Modules: While the first two years provide a solid foundation in diverse historical periods, the third and fourth years of study allow students to specialise in their area of interest. Available modules include, but are not limited to, War and the State, Europe’s Age of Revolutions, 1789-1848, Britain and Her Empire, 1688-1815, and Interpreting Globalisation.Future Careers: Upon graduation, students are equipped with transferable skills that can be applied in a variety of careers. Graduates can pursue careers in industries such as journalism, politics, conservation, teaching, the civil service, and law.
