BA Accountancy

The Accountancy program at the University of Aberdeen aims to impart a comprehensive and complete understanding of accountancy and finance. The course encourages students to develop a global perspective through the study of theoretical and practical aspects of accountancy and finance, with a focus on gaining skills applicable in a variety of professional contexts.Course Content: The Accountancy program spans over four years and includes core topics like financial management, financial reporting, and auditing. It includes both compulsory courses designed to provide base knowledge and optional ones for specializing in areas of interest. Key Modules: The first three years cover core modules including Financial Reporting, Management Accounting, Corporate Finance, Auditing and Assurance, Accountancy Ethics, and Financial Market Analysis to name a few. In the final (fourth) year, students choose optional modules which deepen an area of interest, alongside a dissertation or long project.Accreditations: The program at the University of Aberdeen is accredited by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS), the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA), ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), and CPA Australia (Certified Practising Accountants Australia).Future Careers: Graduates of this program find employment in areas such as public and private sector accountancy, management consultancy, investment and retail banking, marketing, and human resource management.
