BSc (Hons) Midwifery

The Midwifery course offered by the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) is a dynamic, hands-on and rewarding programme that aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to provide excellent care in the midwifery profession. This BSc(Hons) degree allows students to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and gives a clear pathway towards a successful career in midwifery.Course Content: The content of this course is highly immersive, combining a variety of learning techniques such as group discussions, key lectures, clinical skills practice, targeted observations and self-directed study sessions to ensure a rounded learning experience. The course is split equally between theoretical education at the University and practical placements in the community and hospital settings.Key Modules: The Midwifery course incorporates a broad range of topics including the physiology of childbearing, public health in midwifery, the partnership of care in midwifery, examination of the newborn, and research methods. Student's practical and theoretical understanding are continuously assessed through a variety of evaluation methods.Accreditations: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be awarded a BSc(Hons) from the University of the West of England and will be entitled to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a practicing midwife.Future Careers: Completing the Midwifery course at UWE Bristol gives students the opportunity to pursue a variety of rewarding and fulfilling career paths.
