BA (Hons.) Filmmaking

The Filmmaking course at UWE Bristol is designed for students looking to develop practical filmmaking skills and theoretical knowledge in the film industry. The course offers a comprehensive skill set, including scriptwriting, storyboarding, editing, producing, and directing.Course Content: Students get exposure to working on live briefs and high-intensity projects, developing ideas from concept to screen, working across drama, documentary, advert, and experimental production. They also work in professional studio spaces and explore the world of freelance work. They learn about the different roles in a film crew, and develop transferable skills valued by employers.Key Modules: There are many interesting modules on this course including 'Story, Character and Text', 'Single Camera Drama', 'Working in the Creative Industries' and 'Future Documentary'. Students can also go on a sandwich year or take advantage of overseas study opportunities.Accreditations: The course is recognised by 'ScreenSkills', the industry-led skills body for the UK's screen-based industries, and carries the ScreenSkills Select quality mark which indicates courses best suited to prepare students for a career in the screen industries.Future Careers: This filmmaking course prepares students for roles such as Director, Producer, Writer, Editor, Production Designer, Sound Designer, Cinematographer, 1st AD, Script Editor, and many more in the film industry.
