The BSc(Hons) Fashion Textiles course at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), is a full-time undergraduate program which prepares students to become independent, innovative developers, capable of understanding fashion, textiles, sustainability and the role of trend within a commercial context. This program combines knowledge and expertise in both digital technologies and traditional hand skills. Course Content: The combination of modules facilitates students to be creative and innovative and allows the development of a personal design philosophy. The program covers the practical understanding of fibres, yarns, fabrics, dyeing/ printing techniques, the effect of fabrics in fashion, 2D and 3D design development processes, colour analysis, innovative materials and trend forecasting. The program encourages students to experiment with a diverse range of design techniques and methods, and provides a broader view of fashion.Key Modules: The core modules include Introduction to Textile Materials, Fashion and Culture, Design Studio – Drawing and Making and Digital Design Skills. In the later years, students will take modules like Research Methods, Professional Development, and Independent Project, among others. Future Careers: The course sets the students up for careers in a wide range of areas, including textile and surface design, print, fibre art, accessories, trend forecasting, styling, buying and merchandising.
