MA Social Work

The Social Work MA course at Edge Hill University provides students with the professional training and qualifications necessary to practice as a social worker. It incorporates both a rigorous academic component and two different practice placements, while also focusing strongly on bringing about positive changes for individuals, families, and communities.Course Content: The course is split into different modules focusing on law, human rights, discrimination, social justice, alongside developing your practical skills for social work. It also includes designing and executing a small piece of research. Key Modules: Modules include Human Growth and Behaviour, Social Work Law and Professional Practice, Theories and Methods for Social Work Practice, Social Work Law and Safeguarding across Services and Life Course, and an Extended Dissertation for Social Work.Accreditations: The course is endorsed by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) enabling students to gain eligibility to apply for professional registration as a social worker. Future Careers: Graduates can go onto careers within statutory, voluntary, or independent sectors of social work.
