BA (Hons.)Film

The Film Studies BA (Hons) course at Edge Hill University is a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with an understanding of film from a range of perspectives, including talks by contemporary filmmakers and screenings of films. The students will be trained on an array of topics including film theory, history, industries, and culture, and will also explore the impact of digital media on movies.Course Content: This course includes a spectrum of topics such as the study of Hollywood, European, British and Asian cinema, Film genres, Independent cinema, and Women’s cinema. Furthermore, students will critically engage with questions concerning narrative, genre, Stardom, authorship, and film style, as well as the cinemas of different countries and regions and broader cultural and conceptual issues.Key Modules: Some of the key modules included in the course curriculum are Introduction to Film, Story, Character and Genre, Film Industries and Cultures, Making Media, Contemporary Hollywood, Documentary: Theory and Practice, and Digital Video Production.
