The English course at Edge Hill University offers students an innovative, exciting exploration of literature in all its forms, from novels, poetry, and plays to digital texts. The course exposes students to a diverse range of voices, providing a solid understanding of English literature's development and its relationship with culture and society. Course Content: The curriculum covers areas such as literatures of the Civil Rights Movement, modernism, romanticism and gender and sexuality in literature. Students will also learn about writing in the 21st Century, Black British and Asian British writing, researching literature, and gothic literature and science fiction among others, to broaden their understanding of how literature has shaped the world.Key Modules: The course includes key modules such as Reading Texts: Literary Theory, Literature in Context, and Genre and Mode in Literature. The final year culminates in an English Dissertation.Future Careers: The English course nurtures a wide range of transferable skills, thereby opening up a multitude of career paths for graduates. These include journalism, PR, communications officer, heritage industry roles, broadcasting, and teaching.
