The Criminology and Psychology course at Edge Hill University is a three-year study program aimed at equipping students with the crucial knowledge of the two disciplines. This course encourages you to consider the emotional consequences for crime victims and delves into the minds of those who commit criminal behavior or antisocial behavior.Course Content: The Criminology and Psychology course curriculum is designed to provide insight into criminal behavior and the impacts it has. It covers various areas, such as understanding criminal behavior, exploring the psychological impacts of crime on victims, and understanding societal responses to crime. Students will also get the opportunity to explore a range of criminological and psychological theories and practices.Key Modules: In the first year, students will study Introduction to Criminology, Understanding Crime, Introduction to Psychology, and Research Methods in Psychology. Subsequent year modules include Crime, Justice and Society, Developmental and Social Psychology, and Research Methods and Data Analysis in Psychology. In the final year, students have the option to choose from a range of special modules such as Forensic Psychology and Victimology.Accreditations: This course is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) as conferring eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership, provided the minimum standard of a second class honours is achieved. This is the first step towards becoming a Chartered Psychologist.Future Careers: Graduating students might find employment in various sectors including the Criminal Justice System, mental health services, community safety departments, or postgraduate specific training in forensic psychology.
