      BSc Hons. Environmental Science with Hazards and Disasters

        The BSc (Hons) Environmental Hazards and Disaster Management course at Kingston University is designed to enhance the abilities of students to deal with multidimensional aspects of disaster management and environmental hazards. Students will gain knowledge about the nature and origins of environmental hazards and their management techniques, as well as the role of risk analysis in disaster planning and response. This undergraduate program is designed to be exciting, challenging, and relevant to the real world.

        Course Content: Core topics of this course include natural and technological hazards, the social dimensions of hazards, spatial analysis, and research methods for hazard and disaster managers. Students will achieve a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter through a variety of fieldwork, practical exercises, and academic study. The curriculum emphasises problem-solving and developing solutions for real-world environmental hazards and disaster management scenarios.

        Key Modules: This course offers modules in Volcanic and Earthquake Hazards, Introduction to Hydrology and Geomorphology, Introduction to Climatology and Meteorology, Applied GIS and Remote Sensing, Climate Change: Impact, Adaptation and Mitigation, Natural Hazards and Society, and Disaster Management and Planning.

        Accreditations: The BSc (Hons) Environmental Hazards and Disaster Management program is accredited by the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) and the Royal Geographical Society (with the Institute of British Geographers).

        Future Careers: Upon completion of this course, students can explore exciting opportunities in a variety of industries and sectors such as risk management, emergency planning, civil contingencies, environmental management, and consultancies NGOs.
