MA Political Theory

The MA Political Theory course at the University of Essex is a postgraduate program aimed at nurturing the knowledge and understanding of students in key debates, concepts and issues in contemporary political theory and political philosophy. This course helps students in refining their ability in political argumentation and exposure to a broad array of methodological approaches in political theory.Course Content: The MA Political Theory course is an exploration into the foundational questions of political life, development and understanding of political philosophy, and discussions on democracy, multiculturalism, and global justice. This course encourages and supports student’s independent research culminating in a 60-credit dissertation. Key Modules: The pivotal modules include Methods in Political Theory, Debates in Contemporary Political Theory, Contemporary Theoretical Approaches, and Masters Dissertation. Supplementary modules (optional) available include theoretical approaches to International Relations, Democracy, Global Justice and the State, and others.
