The BA Journalism and Language Studies course at the University of Essex provides students with the opportunity to embark on a comprehensive dual degree that explores the power of language and communication. Students will dive into the practice and theory of journalism in addition to choosing a language to study from a selection that includes French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.Course Content: Over the span of this degree, the course covers how journalism is fundamental to democracy and debate, explores tones and styles suited to different audience segments, and uncovers the importance of language in visual and audio formats. Students are also given the option to study abroad in the second year.Key Modules: Some key modules in this course include: Reporting; Media, State and Society; Essentials of Journalism; Language and Society; and Media Law and Ethics.
