The BA Criminology with Counselling Skills course offered by the University of Essex is an inter-disciplinary programme that teaches students how to apply psychological theories to understand, predict and reduce criminal behaviour. The course will enhance students' understanding of how often sensitive issues such as crime, mental health and wellbeing intersect, and the important role counselling skills can play in mitigating the impacts. Course Content: This full-time course is delivered over three years. The first year builds a solid understanding of criminology basics and the foundations of counselling, while the second and third years allow for deepening of knowledge, and the opportunity to undertake elective modules in line with student's interests. Some of these modules may include 'Drugs and Society', 'Race and Criminal Justice', and 'Children as Victims and Offenders'.
