BEng (Hons.) Engineering Design

The BEng (Hons) Engineering Design course offered by Robert Gordon University is aimed at those passionate about designing and developing engineering solutions. The course helps students develop a comprehensive understanding of how engineering products and solutions are designed and produced. This involves studying both the function of the product and the entire lifecycle of the product including sustainability principles.Course Content: The course covers a variety of engineering themes such as material science, engineering maths, fluid mechanics and thermodynamics, as well as specific design-related subjects including manufacturing engineering design, advanced engineering design and digital manufacturing. Students get to engage in several practical experiences, including project-based assignments and a substantial final year individual project. They will also have opportunities for real-world learning including field trips and guest lectures.Key Modules: Some of the many key modules include Mathematics for Engineers, Fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering Design, Material Science and Engineering, Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics, Manufacturing Engineering Design, and Advanced Engineering Design.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and provides the academic requirements for Incorporated Engineer (IEng) registration.Future Careers: Graduates from this course can find employment within a range of sectors in engineering design, manufacturing, project planning, product and system design.
