MSc Industrial Biotechnology

The Industrial Biotechnology course offered by the University of Strathclyde is a one-year postgraduate taught programme that aims to provide students with an understanding of industrial biotechnology and its practical applications. This full-time course will enable students to learn about and explore the potential of biology for producing materials, energy and chemicals.Course Content: The course is structured into various compulsory and elective modules which equips students with the knowledge about bioprocessing, biocatalysis and the biology of industrially important microbes. Furthermore, these modules also cover the topics of bioproduction and downstream processing, and the circular bioeconomy. The course concludes with the student undertaking a significant research project which combines the knowledge and skills they have acquired during their study.Key Modules: Some of the key modules of this course are Biotechnology for the Circular Economy, Biotechnology Processing, and Biocatalysis.Accreditations: The MSc Industrial Biotechnology at the University of Strathclyde is accredited by the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE).Future Careers: Upon completion of this course, students are well-prepared for a career in the biotechnology sector, involved in the design and help of biotechnological processes.
