MSc Advanced Physics

The Advanced Physics (MSc/PgDip) programme offered by the University of Strathclyde aims to develop a deep understanding of core physics principles and their practical applications. It is designed for those individuals who desire to deepen their understanding of the physical world and who have a specific interest in theoretical or computational physics or in the development of new innovative experimental technologies.Course Content: Throughout this programme, students will develop hands-on experience and skills in the theoretical and computational foundations of physics. The two-semester project work that forms an integral part of the course will allow students to gain extensive proficiency in the application of theoretical and/or computational physics to technological challenges.Key Modules: The programme is composed of numerous modules including Quantum Information Theory, Advanced Statistical Mechanics, Advanced Electrodynamics, Quantum Computing, Quantum Field Theory, Advanced Quantum Mechanics, Nanoscience, and Mathematical Methods in Physics.Future Careers: Graduates may follow careers in a wide variety of fields including science and engineering, technology and software, healthcare and medicine, education and research, finance and data analysis, consulting, and more.
