MChem Chemistry with Teaching

The Chemistry with Teaching course at the Strathclyde University is an undergraduate course designed for those who want to take up a career in education focusing on chemistry. This course is aimed at creating exceptional chemistry teachers who can inspire the next generation of chemists.Course Content: The five-year course combines chemistry with education teaching, allowing students to graduate with a Master's degree (MChem) and also a teaching qualification recognised by the General Teaching Council of Scotland. The course is broken down into chemistry and education/teaching components, with key topics including Organic & Inorganic Chemistry, Physical & Theoretical Chemistry, and Chemical Education.Key Modules: Throughout the course, students will explore Fundamental Chemistry, Reactivity & Mechanism in Chemistry, and Topics in Advanced Chemistry. They will also undertake a Practice Teaching module and will complete a Chemistry Research Project in their final year.Accreditations: The teaching qualification obtained as part of this course is recognised by the General Teaching Council of Scotland.Future Careers: Graduates of the Chemistry with Teaching course will be qualified to teach chemistry in secondary schools.
