The Biochemistry/Microbiology Undergraduate course at the University of Strathclyde integrates the study of life at the molecular level with the study of microorganisms and the diseases they cause. This course provides an in-depth understanding of Biochemistry and Microbiology in terms of living systems, their chemistry, molecular biology, and function, while also teaching on the impact of microorganisms on human health and the environment.Course Content: The course is structured to allow students to study Biochemistry and Microbiology as a single, integrated subject. In the first two years, students will be introduced to a broad base of knowledge on biochemistry, microbiology, genetics, and molecular biology. The third and fourth years provide an in-depth study on topics related to biochemistry and microbiology.Key Modules: The key modules in this course include biochemical technology, medical microbiology, immunology, molecular biology of the gene, advanced topics in bioscience, biomedical sciences research project, biosciences in the workplace, and much more. Accreditation: The Biochemistry/Microbiology Degree from the University of Strathclyde is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology for the purpose of meeting, in part, the academic and experience requirement for the Membership and Chartered Biologist (CBiol).Future Careers: Graduates of this program can seek out career opportunities in various sectors such as hospitals, universities, and the pharmaceutical, food, and brewing industries. They may enter job roles such as research scientist, laboratory scientist, medical laboratory assistant, or food scientist. For more information on this course, please visit the official course page.
