The Biochemistry/Immunology BSc (Hons) programme at the University of Strathclyde combines elements of Biochemistry and Immunology to provide a comprehensive overview of the molecular and cellular processes involved in the body's defence mechanisms. This programme emphasises on the interaction between bio-molecular studies and the strategies implemented by our immune system to combat diseases.Course Content: The programme is designed to provide you with the key concepts of biochemistry and immunology including how the cells in immune systems function and evolve; bio-molecular structure, metabolism, genetic manipulations and their methods, cells communication and participation in tissues/organ defence, the nature and significance of genetic information.Key Modules: Some of the key modules include relaying information in cells, Cell Biology, Mammalian Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Medical Microbiology, Human Immunology, Clinical Immunology, Cancer Biology.Accreditations: The program is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology for fulfilling the educational requirements of the Chartered Biologist (CBiol).Future Careers: Graduates of the Biochemistry/Immunology programme can pursue careers in clinical and pharmaceutical laboratories, academia or move into scientific sales roles.
