The Education & Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) undergraduate course offered by the University of Strathclyde integrates education and TESOL to allow students to progress to a teacher qualification in primary, secondary or further education. This program interconnects the study on how we educate and why, and on how English can be taught to speakers of other languages.Course Content: The course includes both theoretical and practical aspects to provide students with the knowledge and skills they need. Through TESOL, students learn how to teach English to speakers of other languages and develop an understanding of cultural, political and educational contexts. The Education courses address key questions around education, such as its role in society and how it's shaped by historical and cultural factors.Key Modules: Over the four years, students study a wide range of modules, including: Understanding Learning and Teaching, International and Comparative Education, The Policy and Politics of Education, Languages in Scottish Education, Curriculum and Assessment, Language, Society and the Individual, and many others.Accreditations: Graduates from this course will meet the General Teaching Council for Scotland standards to be a ‘conditionally’ registered teacher. However, to become a fully registered teacher in the country, further professional practice required.Future Careers: Graduates are prepared for a teaching career in primary, secondary or further education.
