The Education & French BA course at the University of Strathclyde is a four-year programme that aims to combine the study of education theory and practice with in-depth language study. By studying both subjects, students will achieve a high level of competence in both written and spoken French. Course Content: During the first two years, students study education and French equally, before specialising in one area in the third and fourth years. The course further includes a year abroad spent in a French-speaking country to gain practical teaching experience and improve language skills. The final year lets students choose Education as their main subject, which will lead to a teaching qualification, or they can choose French. Key Modules: Key modules include various education sectors (primary, secondary, further, community and adult), the psychology of learning and teaching, contemporary issues in education, French language skills, French civilization and culture, French literature, French politics, and French cinema.Accreditations: Students with Education as their main subject at the end of the course will be recommended for registration to the General Teaching Council of Scotland (GTCS).Future Careers: Graduates of this course can seek opportunities in the wide spectrum of educational practices and services, both nationally and internationally.
