The BEng (Hons) Aircraft Engineering with Pilot Studies is an undergraduate course offered by the University of Salford. This degree combines the practical and theoretical aspects of flying along with the underlying principles of aircraft engineering. This course is not only limited to the study of the principles of flight, aircraft systems and technologies but also includes a professional pilot’s licence training.Course Content: The course includes intensive theoretical study and flying training at a UK-based flight centre, preparing students for the pilot training phase. The academic content focuses on subjects such as aviation, aerodynamics, engineering, flight principles, and systems, while the practical elements cover fundamental flying experience, commercial pilot theory, and game-based learning for pilot aptitude. Key Modules: Some key modules include Aircraft Structures, Pilot Studies, Thermodynamics, Flight Operations, Engineering Design, Professional Engineering Experience, and Aircraft Navigation.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) and satisfies in part the academic requirements for Chartered Engineer (CEng) registration.Future Careers: Students graduating from this course can pursue careers as a Licensed Aircraft Engineer (LAE), Technical Services Engineer, Quality Assurance Engineer, or Aerospace Design Engineer among others, within the aviation industry. Those continuing to complete the remainder of their flight training will be able to qualify as a commercial pilot. For more information on this course, please visit the official course page.
