The Journalism: Broadcast course at the University of Salford combines the traditions of print journalism with the new, digital skills necessary for online and broadcast journalism. Students will have the opportunity to learn from professionals and apply their skills in real-time news days and live broadcasts. Course Content: Students will evolve the traditional skills of finding and telling stories into diverse, digital platforms. Throughout the course, they will be equipped with both the technical and editorial skills needed for careers in journalism. From learning how to find and tell a story, through to how to edit a video package or craft a radio bulletin, students will outline, explore and apply the key concepts and theories associated with the practice of journalism. They will also participate in an extensive range of live practical projects with leading industry organisations and scholars, building an impressive portfolio of work. Key Modules: The course is divided into several modules across three years including Practical Journalism Skills, Digital Journalism, Research for Journalists, Journalism: Principles and Practice, Journalism Law and Ethics, Online Journalism, The Newsroom, Broadcast Journalism: Radio, Broadcast Journalism: TV and English Legal System. Future Careers: Upon successful completion of this course, students can venture into traditional print journalism, digital journalism or publishing.
