Ba (Hons.) Dance

The Dance undergraduate course at the University of Salford is a uniquely constructed program designed to empower students to become creative, contemporary dance practitioners. The curriculum is created with a balance of practical and theory work and is underscored by a focus on urban dance, entrepreneurship and digital influence.Course Content: This course offers unique specialization in urban dance forms alongside contemporary dance. It explores dance theory and history, as well as performance techniques. Students will also have the opportunity to learn how to run a dance company and how to use digital media to enhance their dance practice. The program is based on practical manual qualification and is supplemented by business, teaching, and academic studies.Key Modules: Each year of study is divided into two semesters which are made up of obligatory and optional modules. The compulsory modules introduce the fundamentals of dance, choreography, practice as research, dance technique, and health. The optional modules allow students to specialize in particular areas of interest such as urban dance practice, teaching dance, anatomy and kinesiology, and dance enterprise. Future Careers: The course prepares students for a range of career paths in the dance industry including performance, teaching, choreography, and dance management. Students can also pursue careers in areas such as dance therapy, fitness and wellbeing, community arts work, and event management.
