Ba (Hons.) Costume Design

The Costume Design course at The University of Salford is aimed at fostering the creative skills required by todays’ costume designers, makers, and supervisors. It leads students to specialize in their chosen field and work on live briefs provided by theatres. It's a hands-on learning experience that provides students with the opportunity to exhibit their creative work.Course Content: The course takes a practical approach and includes a comprehensive understanding of the principles of costume design. Course content covers areas such as costume construction, pattern cutting, drawing, role-playing, and styling. Students will learn how to create historically accurate costumes, theatrical millinery, and become attentive to detail while designing for high-definition TV. Key Modules: Some of the key modules in this course include Costuming the Character, Making for Theatre (Textiles), Historical Costume Interpretation, and The Costume Supervisor.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the University of Salford, Manchester.Future Careers: The course is perfectly designed for those who wish to have a successful career in costume design for media, theatre, cruise liners, heritage, and resort industries.
