LLM, Master of Laws

The Master of Laws (LLM) course offered by the Teesside University is a dynamic program that allows students to specialize in a range of law subjects. The course offers depth and breadth of opportunity, which makes it suitable for law and non-law graduates, as well as legal professionals looking to specialize in a particular area of law. The program benefits from professional links with Alistor Limited, which engages employability and soft skills for all LLM students. Course Content: The course consists of three compulsory modules namely: Legal Research and Writing Skills, which provides knowledge and understanding of legal principles, legal argument, research methodology, and project planning, Dissertation which involves self-managed learning and Legal Principles, which covers the foundation subjects needed to complete a qualifying law degree. Furthermore, there are also five elective modules on offer.Key Modules: For the optional modules, students can choose from: English Legal System and Law of Trusts, Certificate in Intellectual Property Law, Legal Issues in Business Law, Legal Issues in Oil and Gas Law, and Law and Theory.Accreditations: The course is recognised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and Bar Standards Board. The Intellectual Property module is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) and the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA); and the Business Law module is recognised by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) for the purpose of exemption to some professional examinations.Future Careers: Upon successful completion of this course, the students are anticipated to embark on a range of professions requiring a good knowledge of law, such as legal professions, public administration, further study, PhD studies, research in law and other related jobs in law and its practices.For more information on this course, please visit the official course page.
