The BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy course at Teesside University is designed for students who aspire to build a career in occupational therapy. The course aims to develop proficient occupational therapists who can work collaboratively and innovatively with diverse populations across numerous settings. Course Content: The course is structured around six key themes including: Foundations of Occupation, Occupational Performance, Occupational Performance: Adapting and Changing, Occupational Engagements, Research and Professional Practice. These themes are integrated into all years of the course. The course consists of theoretical, simulated and work-based learning which aims to prepare students for their role as an Occupational Therapist.Key Modules: The modules you study include Foundations of Human Sciences and Occupational Therapy, Understanding Occupation in context, Interpersonal Skills for Practice, Introduction to practice Environments, Professional Reasoning and Therapeutic Use of Self, Promoting Health and Managing Conditions among others. Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). After successful completion of the course, students are eligible to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an occupational therapist. Future Careers: As a graduate, you are equipped to work in a range of health and social care settings including the NHS, social services, community services, Local Education Authorities and private sector hospital or independent practice. You can also pursue a future in education, industry, the voluntary sector, community development or other public services.
