The BA (Hons) Comics and Graphic Novels course offered at Teesside University is an undergraduate program designed for individuals with creative talent who are interested in pursuing a career in comics and graphic novels. This course equips students with the skills and knowledge needed to produce professional level comic books, graphic novels and related products. Course Content: This unique course enables students to study comics and graphic novels in depth, and introduces a variety of techniques and methods from traditional to digital. The focus on traditional and digital skill sets including drawing, inking, colouring and lettering for print. It also includes project-based modules which mimic working scenarios in the comics industry, starting from initial concept through to finished product. Key Modules: The core modules include Professional Practice, Comics & Sequential Art, Sequential Narrative, Modernist Design Principles, and a final year Major Project. Accreditations: The course is provided by the Teesside University’s School of Computing, Engineering & Digital Technologies, which itself is a member of the Northern School of Art.Future Careers: The skills gained on this course enable students to find employment within several industries including advertising, film and video games.
