The MA Contemporary Performance Practices at the University of East London is a comprehensive postgraduate program designed to equip students with a high level performance and production skills, exploratory creative abilities, and critical thinking. The course is centred around the study of performance in contemporary society, looking at both the cultural contexts of performance and its aesthetics.Course Content: Over the course of 12 to 28 months, students will learn about the philosophical, political and aesthetic dimensions of performance within the public sphere. They will also explore the different pathways for further research in contemporary performance practices with a special focus on the ‘Live Art’ and 'Digital Performance'. Additionally, the course is designed to facilitate students’ engagement with performance-based practice in a variety of scales, from solo work to large-scale public events.Key Modules: The structure of this course is divided into core and optional modules. Core modules include Contemporary Performance Practice: Concepts and Theories, Contemporary Performance Practice: Project Development, and MA Project in Contemporary Performance Practices.
