BA (Hons) Illustration and Animation

The BA (Hons) Illustration & Animation program is an innovative course offered by the University of East London (UEL) focused on equipping students with the necessary skills to interpret, negotiate and challenge the contexts of their practice. It primarily aims to introduce them to a wide range of contemporary illustration and animation practices while promoting creative thinking and critical discourse, making them industry-ready in a dynamic visual communication industry.Course Content: The course comprises of both practical and theoretical studies where students are encouraged to experiment in a studio environment using diverse techniques and materials. They are guided to engage in professional techniques of idea visualisation through paint, print, collage, drawing, digital media, 3D materials, photography and moving image. Equipped with high-tech resources, software and equipment, the course encourages collaborations across disciplines to help develop a distinctive personal voice.Key Modules: The key modules of the program involve illustration and animation studio practices, theoretical studies, professional & creative development, visual exploration, image & text, sequential illustration & moving image, and final major project. These modules are designed to be industry-focused and practically applicable.Future Careers: Upon completion of the course, graduates are well prepared for a range of careers such as illustrators, animators, graphic designers, concept artists and art directors in diverse sectors such as publishing, television, gaming, advertising, film, performance, and fashion.
