BA (Hons) Criminology and Psychology

The BA (Hons) Criminology and Psychology course at the University of East London is a three-year undergraduate programme that combines the study of crime and criminal behavior with the scientific study of the mind. It allows students to gain a deeper understanding of the causes of criminal activity while also providing insights into the human mind and behavior. Course Content: The combined curriculum includes topics like cognitive psychology, social and development psychology, biological psychology, crime and criminal justice, theories of crime, law and social control, and criminological research methods. All of which aim to provide a broad understanding of the two disciplines, while interrelating them for a comprehensive perspective.Key Modules: Some of the key modules within this course include Understanding Crime, Criminal Justice, Foundations in Psychology, Cognitive and Biological Psychology, Criminological Imagination, Policing and Punishment, and Dissertation.Accreditations: The University of East London is recognized by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and is therefore student members can apply for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC), providing that they meet minimum standards of entry and achieve a 2:2 or above in their final degree.Future Careers: On completing this course, graduates can pursue a range of careers, including but not limited to, welfare rights, youth justice, probation work, the police force, social work, educational psychology, forensic psychology and mental health services.
