BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies (Learning Disability)

The Undergraduate Nursing Studies Learning Disabilities course at Glasgow Caledonian University provides a comprehensive study pathway aimed at shaping future nursing professionals who meet the complex needs of those with learning disabilities. The integrated learning approach equips students with both the knowledge and practical training to effectively support and improve the lives of people with learning disabilities.Course Content: This field advances a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. Students will first comprehend the fundamental concepts of nursing before moving onto in-depth discussions about learning disability nursing. An integrated approach allows students to link their theoretical knowledge to the real-life scenarios.Key Modules: There are various topical modules on offer. These include, but are not limited to: Foundations in Health and Nursing Sciences, Interprofessional Learning 1, and Work Based Learning in Practice. Students will also undertake a capstone project at the end of the course.Accreditations: Upon successful completion of the course, students will be eligible for registration as a Learning Disability Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Future Careers: This course prepares students for a range of roles within the nursing sector, specifically for working with individuals with learning disabilities.
