The Operating Department Practice Degree Apprenticeship BSc (Hons) at the University of Huddersfield is a course designed to prepare students to become qualified operating department practitioners (ODPs). ODPs work at the heart of the surgical team, and this course combines academic study with clinical practice in a role that involves the whole patient journey.Course Content: The students in this course will spend 40% of their time in the university learning theory and skills that can be directly applied in the workplace. The remaining 60% will be spent training on-the-job in a variety of placements that cover all aspects of the role, including pre-operative assessment, anaesthetics, surgery, and post-operative recovery.Key Modules: Key modules for this course include Anatomy and Physiology, Surgical Sciences, Perioperative Care, and Anaesthetic and Surgical Practice.
