The Chemical Engineering BEng (Hons) course at the University of Huddersfield is a full-time, undergraduate programme that aims to deliver a full understanding of core chemical engineering topics. The course combines theory learning with practical work experience, giving students the opportunity to apply their knowledge in multiple industry placements. It is structured to encourage independent thinking and problem-solving, in order to prepare students for the variety of challenges they will face in their future careers.Course Content: Throughout the course, students will explore topics such as process design and control, safety procedures, petroleum refining, and environmental issues among others. They'll take part in plant design projects and overseas field trips, as well as explore alternative energy sources, manufacturing pharmaceuticals and managing resources.Key Modules: Key study modules include Process Design and Control, Safety and Loss Prevention, Chemical Engineering Science, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Petroleum Refining, Transport Phenomena, and Applied Mathematics for Engineers. In the final year, students undertake a major project that allows them to research a subject or problem area of their choice in depth.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), under license from the UK regulator, the Engineering Council. This accreditation allows students to meet part or all of the academic requirements for registration as a Chartered Engineer.Future Careers: Graduates from this course can pursue careers in a wide range of industries including the chemical, process, food, pharmaceutical, and energy sectors. They could work in roles such as plant design, project management, technical, production, or research and development roles. For more information on this course, please visit the official course page.
