The Interior Design BA (Hons) course at the University of Huddersfield is a full-time undergraduate program designed to nurture creativity while providing the skills and confidence to embark on professional design practice. The course focuses on creating functional and meaningful spaces by reimagining the interiors of buildings, both existing and yet to be created. Students are challenged to develop excellent presentation skills, learn professional practice, understand the roles of other built environment professionals and understand the complexities of making buildings.Course Content: The program offers an innovative blend of design along with a historical and theoretical approach. Students are taught to create workable and aesthetic spaces by considering various aspects including color, materials, lighting and spatial relationships. The course includes elements of practical design, interior architecture, and sustainable and commercial design.Key Modules: Across the three years, the modules range from 'Design Studio' which builds an understanding of professional interior design practice to 'Sustainable Interiors', teaching students to develop environmentally-conscious indoor environments. 'Commercial Interiors', 'Object and Detail', 'External Collaboration' and 'Design Project' are other key modules imparted, leading to the creation of a sophisticated portfolio.Accreditations: The course has professional accreditation from The Chartered Society of Designers, indicating it meets their high standards of education.Future Careers: Graduates are expected to work as freelance designers, in architectural or design consultancies, large commercial enterprises, or specialized design practices.
