The History BA (Hons) at the University of Huddersfield aims to engage students with different historical periods, cultures, and social, political and economic changes, focusing on both national and international history. The course provides a mix of core and optional modules to allow students to tailor their learning to their interests. Course Content: The course is structured into three main stages. At Stage 1, students learn to critically analyse historical events and concepts, and develop a range of skills including research skills. They study a range of periods and topics from the medieval to the modern era. Stage 2 builds on this foundation with deeper studies. In Stage 3, students undertake in-depth research for their final year dissertation on a topic of their choice, guided by a supervisor.Key Modules: Some key modules include The Making of Modern Britain, Systems of Empire, The Global South since 1945, The Atlantic World 1492-1800, and War, Society and Culture. There are also opportunities to do modules that explore periods of history that may not have been studied before, such as African or Asian history.Future Careers: After graduation, students can seek employment in a variety of fields such as education, journalism, law, public relations, management, and civil service.
