BA(Hons) English Literature with Creative Writing

The English Literature with Creative Writing BA (Hons) at the University of Huddersfield is a course that encourages students to develop their passion for literature from classical to contemporary works, while also refining their own creative writing skills. This course offers an array of modules that allow students to choose and focus on their preferred areas.Course Content: During the three-year full-time course, students look at the building blocks of literature, delve into diverse areas such as children’s literature, the horror genre, and American literature. Besides, students will have an opportunity to showcase their creative writing through prose, poetry, or scripts.Key Modules: In the first year, students will take core modules like 'Reading, Writing, and Criticism', 'The Literary Genre', and 'Introduction to Creative Writing'. In the following years, they can choose from a range of optional modules such as 'American Nightmares: Horror in American Literature', 'Writing War', 'Writing Comedy', 'Adapting Shakespeare', and many more.Future Careers: Graduates from this course have pursued successful careers in areas such as teaching, journalism, publishing, editorial works, arts management, librarianship, PR and marketing.
