BA(Hons) Costume with Textiles

The Costume with Textiles BA (Hons) full-time undergraduate course offered by the University of Huddersfield is designed to equip students with a combination of creative and technical skills needed to excel in the world of costume and textiles. Students are given the opportunity to explore and experiment with the design and maker process of costumes in a range of professional contexts.Course Content: The course is taught using a variety of methods, from workshops, demonstrations, practical sessions, lectures and seminars to independent study. The areas of study include design creation, textiles, pattern-cutting and construction skills, and history of costume. Students also get exposure to various professional contexts like theatre, film, television, and exhibitions.Key Modules: The key modules are Design Interpretation and Realisation, European Costume, Cultural and Historic Studies, Professional Practices and Final Year Major Project.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Textile Institute, providing international recognition for the high standard of qualification offered.Future Careers: Upon completion, graduates can pursue careers in a range of sectors including theatre, film, television, exhibitions, and museums.
