The Masters in Comics and Graphic Novels is the only course of its kind in the UK, taking a detailed and comprehensive approach to the academic study of the medium. Based at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design at the University of Dundee, students will explore all aspects of the graphic form of storytelling, from underground comix to mainstream superhero narratives.Course Content: Throughout the course, students will engage in numerous practical activities, learning the processes involved in creating comics. This includes scripting, drawing, colouring, and lettering. The course also covers intensive theory modules that involve the study of comic history, culture, and criticism. Students will also be involved in creating their showcase piece which contributes as a significant part of the Master’s project.Key Modules: Key modules featured in this programme include Creating Comics, Comic Studies, Comic Practice Workshop, Cartoon Journalism, Comics and Film, and Storytelling for Comics.Future Careers: Graduates from this course can pursue careers in numerous sectors.
