The Oral Health Sciences BSc Honours programme at the University of Dundee is a four-year undergraduate course. This programme provides students with an opportunity to play a vital role in promoting oral health and treating periodontal disease to improve patient confidence, aesthetics and quality of life. The course includes a mix of theory and practical elements to prepare students for the professional healthcare field.Course Content: The course provides students with a solid understanding of the foundations of oral health sciences, focusing on human health, understanding the disease, and how to develop prevention strategies and treatments. The first two years cover basic aspects of the science of dentistry, and the last two years proritise clinical practice.Key Modules: The core modules of this course include Essentials of Life, Understanding Disease, Drugs and Disease, Clinical Practice, Psychology of Behaviour Change, Leadership in Dentistry, Clinical Dental Technology and Problems in Clinical Practice.Accreditations: This course is accredited by the General Dental Council (GDC) that allows students to register as dental hygiene therapists upon graduation.Future Careers: After successful completion of this course, graduates are qualified to work as a dental hygienist or dental therapist in a variety of settings such as NHS, private practice, health education, sales, marketing and health promotion.
