BSc (Hons.) Phsyics with Astrophysics

The Physics with Astrophysics course at the University of Dundee combines a thorough training in physics with a focus on those aspects particularly relevant to astrophysics. The University is a member of the Scottish Universities Physics Alliance, a research-led collaboration. With opportunities to gain practical experience and learn from renowned physicists, this course helps students dive into exciting aspects of modern physics.Course Content: The course starts with general topics in Physics in Level 1 and gradually introduces more specialised modules in Astrophysics. In the third and fourth years, students get access to state-of-the-art facilities and instruction for advanced topics like Relativistic Quantum Mechanics, Statistical Mechanics, and Quantum Theory.Key Modules: The Level 1 & 2 modules include Maths for Scientists, Mechanics and Fields, Thermal and Statistical Physics, Software Development with Python, and Astronomy. Level 3 & 4 modules contain Quantum Mechanics, Digital Imaging and Spectroscopy, Astrobiology, Research and Computing Skills for Physicists, and a Final Year Project.Accreditations: This course is accredited by the Institute of Physics (IoP), which determines the academic training required for professional physicists.Future Careers: Graduates from this course can pursue a range of careers, from research and teaching to industries such as energy, healthcare, defence, IT, and finance.
