The BSc (Hons) in Molecular Genetics at the University of Dundee offers students an opportunity to delve deeply into the study of genes and genetic variation. This course, aimed at students with an interest in biosciences, particularly genetics, provides a comprehensive understanding of molecular genetics through a mixture of lectures, research-led teaching and practical experience.Course Content: The course progresses through four years of study. In the first two years, students gain a good grounding in biological sciences and introduce a variety of topics. Years three and four allow students to focus on genetics in greater detail, with an emphasis on current research. A key part of this course is the opportunity to conduct a research project in the final year, under expert supervision.Key Modules: Key subjects in this course include The Molecular Control of Life; Advanced Genetics; Gene Regulation; Molecular Aspects of Cell Biology; Plant Biotechnology; and Parasitology. There is also a dedicated research project in molecular genetics which forms a substantial part of the last year.Accreditations: The BSc (Hons) Molecular Genetics degree is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology. Students will receive one year's free membership of the Society at Associate level upon graduation.Future Careers: Graduates of the course have a range of career options, including bioscience-related research, forensic science, health, and disease laboratories, environmental institutions, and pharmaceutical companies. Some graduates also choose further study, including PhD level research. For more information on this course, please visit the official course page.
