The Biochemistry BSc (Hons) programme at the University of Lincoln is designed to equip students with the fundamental understanding of all biological systems, from the molecular level to whole organisms. It encourages students to develop new ways of thinking about biochemistry and aims to open up career opportunities in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and clinical biochemistry, among other fields.Course Content: The course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the molecular mechanisms that underpin life. In Years Two and Three, students have the opportunity to study specialised biochemistry topics in more depth. The third-year research project gives students the chance to develop and apply scientific skills in an area of biochemistry that interests them, under the supervision of academic staff members.Key Modules: Key modules include Advanced Cell Biology, Genetics and Genomics, Proteins and Enzymes, Advanced Biochemistry, Current Topics in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Molecular Immunology.Accreditations: This course is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology. Graduates can become Associate Members (AMRSB) for a period of three years after graduation.Future Careers: The scientific and transferable skills gained on this course could open up career opportunities in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and clinical biochemistry, among other sectors. Some students also go on to pursue further study and training in order to specialise in areas such as drug development or biotechnology. For more information on this course, please visit the official course page.
