Msci Nursing Dual Award (Mental Health and Learning Disabilities)

The MSci Nursing (Mental Health with Learning Disabilities) Dual Award course offered by the University of Derby aims to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in dual-field practices of mental health and learning disabilities nursing. Students will graduate with a Master's degree, Registered Nurse (Mental Health) and a BSc (Hons) Nursing (Learning Disabilities) Degree.Course Content: This four-year integrated masters program involves different learning strategies such as clinical placements, seminars and workshops, and simulated clinical skills practices. The program highlights the dual focus, centring both mental health and learning disabilities in its academic discourse. Students will gain sound theoretical knowledge coupled with hands-on practical experience to ensure their understanding and effectiveness in the nursing industry.Key Modules: Some of the major modules of the course include Contemporary Issues in Mental Health, Foundations of Mental Health Nursing, Advancing Practice in Mental Health Nursing, Foundations of Learning Disability Nursing, and Advancing Practice in Learning Disability Nursing.Accreditations: The course is accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), which means that on completion of the course, students are eligible to register as a Nurse (RNLD and RMN) with them.Future Careers: Upon graduation, students are prepared to work as registered nurses in mental health and learning disabilities in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, community settings, and specialist services.
