The MSci Nursing (Dual Award) Learning Disabilities and Child course at the University of Derby is designed to prepare students to become dual-qualified nurses and make a difference in people's lives. The course provides the opportunity for students to develop hands-on experience within wide range of practice settings, while getting equipped with the necessary academic knowledge and clinical skills to excel in their career.Course Content: The course combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience to provide a comprehensive learning experience. Students will get the opportunity to learn about health and social care issues, nursing practices, theory, values and attitudes, understanding of learning disabilities, along with child health and development. The course emphasizes ethical decision-making, reflective practice and critical thinking over the course of study.Key Modules: Key modules in the program include Developing Therapeutic Relationships, Learning Disability Nursing Practice, Understanding Child Health and Development, Mental Health and Physical Health Conditions in Learning Disability and many more.Accreditations: Upon completion of the course, students receive dual qualifications and eligible to apply for registration on part 1(Learning Disabilities Nursing) and part 8 (Children’s Nursing) of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register.Future Careers: The course equips students for a variety of nursing careers. Graduates have gone on to work in community nursing teams, hospitals and residential services.
