MA Arts (pathways in Fine Art or Photography)

The MA Art course offered by the University of Derby aims to provide students with a platform to explore their creative ambitions, enhance their skills, and deepen their understanding of the potential and role of art in society. This course offers the freedom and support necessary to deeply engage in independent, self-directed work with expert guidance.Course Content: The MA Art course incorporates professional practice masterclasses, seminars, crits, lectures, and individual tutorials. Students are expected to develop a body of work for exhibition, as well as undertake written assignments including critical and reflective writing.Key Modules: The key modules of the course include ‘Art Professional Practice,’ ‘Art Practice 1,’ ‘Arts Context and Concepts,’ ‘Art Practice 2,’ with an option to choose either a ‘Negotiated Study’ or ‘Teaching Art and Design.’ Future Careers: By developing knowledge and skills in a variety of arts practices, students can open up career paths such as independent artist, curator, teacher, researcher, writer, gallery professional, arts administrator, art therapist, or creative industry entrepreneur.For more information on this course, please visit the official course page.
