The Motorsport Engineering BEng (Hons) at the University of Derby is intended for those with a passion for motorsport and a desire to work in a fast-paced, global industry. It offers a balance of theoretical study and practical work and provides students with the opportunity to use industry-standard technology and software.Course Content: Students on this course will cover a broad basis of topics designed to equip them with the essential skills needed in motorsport engineering. These include vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics, data acquisition, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), powertrain engineering, and CAD/CAM operations. The course also offers practical experience in areas such as producing computational models and prototypes, manufacturing and testing components, or entire cars.Key Modules: Key modules included in this course are Vehicle Dynamics and Aerodynamics, Motorsport Technology, Race Car Practicum, Thermofluids and Engines, Solid Body Mechanics, and Low Carbon Vehicles.Accreditations: This course is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) subject to confirmation in 2023. This accreditation will contribute towards the academic requirements needed for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.Future Careers: The course equips students for a rewarding career in roles ranging from design, development, and performance engineering to vehicle dynamics and systems engineering.
