The Psychology and Law BA/BSc (Hons) is a unique joint honors course offered by the University of Derby. This course is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in both disciplines through an integrated approach to learning. Course Content: This interdisciplinary course is divided into stages, where stage one provides a foundational introduction to psychology and law, stage two involves understanding criminal behavior, and focusing on the implications and applications of psychological research in legal contexts. Stage three builds on this by exploring psychological and legal perspectives on topics like crime, deviance, and the criminal justice system, as well as providing the opportunity for an Independent Studies module in either psychology or law.Key Modules: The course combines psychology modules (including Research Methods, Social Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, and Biopsychology) with law modules (like English and European Legal Contexts, Legal Method and Skills, Land Law, and Contract Law). Key modules also include Criminal Law, Equity, Trusts & Wills, Crime & Society, Forensic Psychology, and Psychology of Investigation and Courtroom.Accreditations: The university is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), offering the graduates the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership providing they achieve the minimum standard of a second class honours in their degree.
