MSc Nursing (Mental Health)

The Nursing (Mental Health) course offered by Nottingham Trent University is a full-time, two-year postgraduate course that emphasizes the importance of understanding mental health complexities and challenges in order to provide excellent, personalized nursing care.Course Content: The course incorporates diverse ways of interweaving theory and practice to help students achieve their potential. It delves into the concept of recovery in mental health and prepares students to employ excellent communication skills, therapeutic interventions, and evidence-based practices in their professional career. Students are expected to accomplish 2,300 hours of theory and 2,300 hours of practice to meet professional body requirements. Key Modules: The course is separated into three stages. Stage One introduces students to core nursing concepts, communication and professional values, nursing practice and decision-making, as well as core mental health concepts and interventions. In Stage Two, students further delve into nursing practice and decision-making, learn comprehensive assessment skills, and explore complex needs and interventions in mental health. The third and final stage is focused on leadership and prepares students for their transition to professional practice. Accreditations: Successful completion of the course leads to qualification as a mental health nurse, making students eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).Future Careers: Graduates from this course can engage in diverse roles within the mental health nursing field.
