The BA (Hons) Animation course offered by the Nottingham Trent University provides a detail-oriented and comprehensive study of animation techniques, storytelling, character creation, and development. In Year One, students cover the basics of animation and storytelling. They also explore observational drawing skills and engage in a group project focussing on visual and technical development. The Year Two is more advanced as it delves deeper into character creation techniques and professional standards of the animation world. The niche skill sets such as stop-motion, cut-out animation, and visual effects are learned at this stage. Year Three revolves around personal creative projects and in-house internships. Students are expected to produce a final year film and portfolio in this year. Key Modules: The modules include 'Animation Principles', 'Storyboarding and Animatics', 'Preproduction', 'Animation Production', 'Character Animation', 'Advanced Animation Techniques', 'Animation Industry Practice', 'Final Major Project', and 'Contextual Studies modules'.
